| Educated
in a public school, Mr. Balwant Singh did his B.Com from
Delhi University. During his college days, Mr. Balwant
Singh was a keen badminton player and a Gold Medalist.
He captained Delhi University badminton team and during
his tenure won a silver medal in All India University
Championship. He was also Delhi State Champion.
Initially he joined his father's business of fast Dyes
manufacture but later at the end of 1980 started Namdhari
Electricals manufacturing electrical items. He diversified
into electronic industry and established Namdhari Electronics
Co. Pvt. Ltd. and manufactured televisions, telephones
and blank videocassettes in India under the brand name
of Polo. Thereafter he got into show business and obtained
copy-rights of more than 800 feature films for video.
He also set up a video-duplicating studio, which was
largest in India.
During the business activities he traveled abroad a
number of times and recognized the need of setting up
an Amusement Park in India.
From 1985 to 1989, he made frequent trips to the U.S.A
and to various European countries to study the working
of amusement and water park industry.
He commenced amusement business with the introduction
of mobile amusement park and carried it on wheels to
various upcountry locations. On account of difficulties
of transportation and conflicting laws in different
states, he decided to establish a permanent amusement
park in Delhi.
He designed and set up an amusement park under the
name of Fun 'N' Food Village in January 1993. Very shortly
thereafter he established a water park under the name
of Village Club which became very popular with the public
and foreigners who visit the park regularly and have
rates this as one of the best parks in the world. All
the rides and facilities in both water park and amusement
park have been designed and manufactured in house under
the close supervision of Mr. Balwant Singh.
With an experience of more than 15 years, Mr. Balwant
Singh Chawla is one of the pioneers of this industry
in India and is always ready to infuse new ideas and
attractions in the parks. He Is in touch with the progress
of this Industry in other part of world by regularly
attending seminars and exhibitions in the U.S., Europe,
South East Asia and Russia.
At present Mr. Balwant Singh Chawla is President of
Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries.
